Like many gun owners, I like to do extensive research before I purchase a firearm. However, that does require sorting through endless self-proclaimed gun experts. I often find myself asking, “Is this an honest review or are they just echoing what they have heard experts say?”
After SHOT Show, I began talking to a new gun review company called Field Seats. What makes them different, is they GIVE AWAY the gun they are reviewing to one lucky customer. They explained how they went through the painstaking process of ensuring that it is completely legal. They are licensed dealers after all, so it was paramount to make sure all laws are followed.
The Field Seats crew has a lengthy resume of tactical and firearms experience. They take this knowledge to conduct limited seating online gun reviews. The purchase of ticket enters you to win the firearm, or optic, being reviewed. Winners will have the prize sent to an FFL of their choice for pickup.
The cost of the ticket is much cheaper than other gun contests and giveaways. For legal reasons, certain words can’t be said, but you can connect the dots.
If you don’t win, then at the very least you got an honest opinion that can help influence future purchases.

Full disclosure, I personally have purchased a ticket for the review of a brand new GLOCK 17 Gen5. However, all participants are entered into a computer program that randomly selects a winner. The seating is limited so the odds are always much better than larger giveaways. But in the interest of fairness, I will donate the prize to a VSO if I win. I just think the idea is practical (albeit very cool) and I wanted to share with the community.
