Russian commander predicts Ukraine victory

Putin launched a “special military operation” against Ukraine in February 2022, with the aim of a quick victory against the Eastern European nation. Girkin, a self-described Russian nationalist, rose to prominence during Moscow’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and has been charged with war crimes in Ukraine. While he supports the goals of the invasion, he has become increasingly critical of Kremlin leadership for not sufficiently equipping troops. He accused Russian state media of “polishing” the situation in Ukraine and lamented on how the lack of true information about the situation in Ukraine has affected Russia.
