According to the Stafford County Sheriff, “Three hero Marines jumped into action to prevent a stabbing during an altercation,” at a Chick-fil-A near Marine Corps Base Quantico.

Witnesses claim two males approached an unidentified individual, and an argument ensued. The two aggressors, one 17 and the other 14, escalated the situation to a physical altercation. One of the suspects then pulled a knife, and that is when 3 nearby Marines sprung into action, separating the fight before anyone was stabbed.

Stafford County Sheriff David Decatur stated one of the Marines “broke the knife in half to prevent further harm, and the two suspects quickly fled.”

“Thank you to the hero Marines who stepped up in order to protect the victim. Without you, this altercation could have been a lot worse.” -Sheriff Decatur

Police arrived to the scene and after giving a description of the suspects, the victim informed them his phone was stolen. Police began sweeping the area and found two young men matching the description.

A deputy confronted the pair outside a nearby CVS. Upon a search, the officer found the stolen phone and the suspects were taken into custody. Criminal complaints were filed for multiple crimes, including: assault and battery, robbery, as well as, attempted felony wounding.

The phone was eventually returned to the victim. The incident occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the Chick-fil-A on Dunn Drive in North Stafford, Virginia.

No better chicken, no worse enemy

The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) includes rigorous training in dealing with opponents wielding a knife, but there is no technique that is specifically used to snap a knife in half. A Marine Corps “heel stomp” may have been used, but it is unconfirmed if the phrase “MARINE CORPS” was shouted at any point during the intervention.

It is also unclear if any of the food, sometimes referred to as the “Lord’s Chicken,” was spilled or wasted.
