The VA states, “We offer 5 support-and-services tracks to help you find and keep a job, and live as independently as possible.”

Find a new job

If you are seeking job placement assistance, or career counseling, check out the Rapid Access to Employment track. They have staff that specialize in help finding you a job in your wheelhouse of skills. Furthermore, you can learn if you are eligible for Veterans’ Preference.

Change career fields

If your service-connected disability makes your old career untenable, then check out the Employment Through Long-Term Services track. You may be eligible for education benefits, apprenticeships, and job placement assistance.

Get back to work

After returning from service, the Reemployment track will help you and your employer reintegrate you successfully. You may have certain needs that may warrant special accommodation. As a result, you may utilize this track to help address those needs.

Entrepreneurship

As a service-connected disabled Veteran, you can also follow the Self-Employment track. This will provide business plan assistance, and training in such small-business operation necessities as marketing, and finance management. Additionally, they will have experts review your plan, to help set you up for success.

Regain your freedom

If your service-connected disability makes day-to-day tasks (like bathing, eating, shopping) extremely difficult, you may be eligible for help. The Independent Living track may qualify you for a home adaptation grant, or other benefits to increase your quality of life.

Find out if you are eligible by clicking here. Also remember, these benefits are not a “free hand out,” they are federal law ensuring there is care for those who have served their country.
