Bodycam shows police rescuing 6-year-old girl from kidnapper
Sometimes, heroism goes unrecognized in today’s 24 hour news cycle. We wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the efforts of Louisville Metro Police rescuing a 6-year-old girl from an abduction.

Witnesses saw the child riding her bicycle on the side of the road when suspect Robby Wildt, 40, began to circle his vehicle around. Wildt soon pulled his car over and physically apprehended the minor.

Prentiss Weatherford told WAVE 3 News, “He just grabbed her by the collar, threw her bike, threw her in the passenger’s seat, made his way on down the road.”
Weatherford also said things happened very quickly. Adding, “He came around the corner, parked his car, (and) got out within 15 seconds.”
As the suspect fled, Weatherford and his father ran after the car. As a result, they were able to glimpse part of the license plate, and report the vehicle to police.
When responding officers found the vehicle, the unharmed, but shaken, child was taken into custody with little to no opposition from Wildt.
Officers claim the Wildt “felt bad for doing what he had done.”
The incident occurred back in July of 2021, but suspect Robby Wildt recently appeared in court. The charges he faces could carry a 10-20 year sentence in jail.
The video of police rescuing the child has sparked an overwhelming amount of support on social media. For both the quick thinking neighbors who took down the license plate number, and the officers who swiftly intervened before the situation got any worse.
