Baltimore City Police officer Keona Holley was ambushed by gunfire while sitting in her patrol car last week. After sustaining grievous injuries from the seemingly random attack, the mother of four was transported to a nearby hospital. However, officer Holley was removed from life support on Thursday afternoon, and has since passed away.

A vehicle seen on surveillance footage, near the scene of the crime, allowed police to narrow their search.

This led authorities to Elliot Knox, 31, and Travon Shaw, 32. The pair was arrested as the primary suspects. They are also being charged in conjunction with the murder of Justin Johnson, who was killed mere hours after officer Holley.

Knox has since told authorities he was present for both shootings, but insists Shaw was the gunman.

Additionally, Knox told investigators where they could find the weapon. A warrant was obtained and detectives subsequently discovered two weapons. They also found casings that matched the crime scene.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott stated, “I offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Keona Holley, a devoted public servant who worked selflessly to protect our community.”

He went on to say, “Baltimore will never forget Officer Holley’s sacrifice and commitment to making a difference in her beloved city. I ask that everyone please keep Officer Holley’s family in your prayers as they endure the holiday season without their mother, daughter, sister and loyal friend.”

Officer Holley was working an overtime shift when she was ambushed.
