BUTLER, Pa. — Former President Donald Trump was swiftly evacuated from a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after gunfire interrupted the event. Trump's spokesman, Steven Cheung, assured the public in a statement that the former president was not seriously injured and received medical evaluation at a local facility.

The incident occurred during Trump's address at what was intended to be his final rally before the Republican National Convention, where he was presenting statistics on border crossings. Gunshots were heard, causing Trump to reach for his ear and prompting Secret Service agents to rush the stage. Reports indicated Trump briefly ducked behind the podium as the agents responded and attended to him.

During the evacuation, blood could be seen on Trump's face as the chaos unfolded in front of thousands of attendees.

Following the incident, Trump briefly reappeared on stage to cheers from the crowd, and acknowledging the support with a fist pump. His motorcade departed the venue shortly thereafter, with police treating the area as a crime scene as they began evacuating the premises.

Authorities, including the U.S. Secret Service, have yet to provide further details or comments on the situation. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden, condemned the attempt, called for unity and wished Trump a speedy recovery.
