Anduril Industries has unveiled two AI-powered drones, Bolt and Bolt-M, designed to support military operations with advanced, user-friendly technology.

Anduril Industries recently introduced two new artificial intelligence-powered drones, the Bolt and Bolt-M, designed to support military operations with advanced, user-friendly technology. In its press release, the defense company described the Bolt family as “man-packable, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) Autonomous Air Vehicles (AAVs),” offering adaptable capabilities for various missions.

The Bolt drone is intended for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and search and rescue operations, while the Bolt-M is designed to give ground forces precise, automated firepower. Anduril explained that the Bolt-M allows human operators to make four key decisions: where to look, what to follow, how to engage, and when to strike. The Bolt-M is powered by a tactical version of Anduril’s Lattice software platform, which enables flight automation, aiding operators in locating, tracking, and striking moving targets. The drone can be controlled via a simple touchscreen interface, allowing operators to focus on complex mission tasks rather than basic navigation.

Anduril’s press release highlighted the Bolt-M’s ease of operation, rapid deployment, and autonomous waypoint navigation. It offers target-agnostic object tracking, customizable engagement settings, a 40-minute flight endurance, and a range of 20 kilometers, extending support for dismounted forces. The Bolt-M can also carry up to three pounds of munitions, equipping it to engage enemy combatants, light vehicles, and trench targets.

The company noted that the Bolt and Bolt-M drones’ lightweight and compact design allows military personnel to easily incorporate them into their equipment. The Bolt-M, specifically, can be unpacked and launched in under five minutes, providing immediate precision firepower on demand.

A demonstration video on Anduril’s website showcases both drones in action, highlighting their ease of use and cutting-edge technology designed to empower military operations with autonomous capabilities.
