Delaware man crashes car into barricades near US Capitol, then shoots himself in the head

SUNDAY, Washington D.C. – After driving his car into a vehicle barricade near the US Capitol Building, a man killed himself with a gunshot to the head in front on responding police.

Shortly after 4:00 AM local time, the man drove his car into a vehicular barricade at the intersection of East Capitol Street NW and Second Street NW. According to Capitol Police, once his car became “engulfed in flames,” the man exited the vehicle and fired multiple shots into the air.

As police approached, the man turned the gun on himself and delivered a fatal shot to his head. No one else was injured in the incident.
