Fieri gathered a team of around 25 volunteers at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds is currently the base camp for first responders fighting the Dixie Fire. The firefighters and volunteers in the area have fought the spreading flames for over a month now, making Fieri’s contribution all the more welcome.

According to local news outlet KTVU, the Diner, Drive-ins, and Dives host served an astounding 2,200 people throughout the day on Tuesday.

Coleslaw, mac and cheese, and over a thousand pounds of pulled pork made up Fieri’s menu. 1,200 pounds of pulled pork were reportedly cooked and served on Tuesday, and those who are helping Fieri prep and cook the dishes come from all backgrounds.

In a brief interview with Fieri at the scene of the effort, he said, “We have folks from all different walks of life, you name it. From construction to law to medicine to truck driving to security systems… we got a pilot, you name it.”

The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office thanked the chef on Facebook afterwards, saying, “A big thank you to Guy Fieri and his foundation for coming up to support our community. Guy and his partners are feeding all of the fire personnel and other public safety personnel assigned to the Dixie Fire.”

Fieri also previously handed out meals during Sonoma County’s Kincade and Glass fires in 2019 and 2020, respectively, and Butte County’s Camp fire in 2018.

The Dixie fire is 735,064 acres and 45% contained as of Wednesday afternoon, according to Cal Fire. Starting in mid-July, the blaze is the largest fire in California history and has destroyed more than 1,200 structures so far.
