Staff Writer

Two illegal immigrants with extensive criminal records have been arrested for allegedly murdering a good Samaritan who tried to stop them from stealing a catalytic converter.

Los Angeles County law enforcement officials arrested two illegal immigrants, Wilber Alberto Rabanales and Jose Christian Saravia Sanchez, on Thursday for allegedly murdering a good Samaritan who attempted to stop them from stealing a neighbor's catalytic converter. The incident occurred on February 25, when 48-year-old Juan Miguel Sanchez was shot in the chest after confronting the suspects.

According to police sources, Rabanales, a Guatemalan national, has been arrested at least 15 times on various charges, including gun charges, drug charges, burglary charges, and grand theft charges. He has also been arrested multiple times for stealing catalytic converters and was previously charged with felonies such as possession of a gun, meth, and burglary tools.

Jose Christian Saravia Sanchez has also been arrested at least 12 times on similar charges, including gun charges, drug charges, grand theft charges, burglary charges, kidnapping charges, and possession of burglary tools and meth.

The victim, Juan Miguel Sanchez, was a devoted family man and the sole provider for his family. His sister, Susana Sanchez, described him as a "big man of faith" who never missed mass on Sunday and volunteered at church on Sunday mornings. Juan Miguel Sanchez would have turned 49 in April and had recently been promoted at his job following the devastating Palisades Fire in California.

Susana Sanchez said her brother had departed for work prior to 4 a.m. on February 25 to get started early at his job. "And now he's gone, leaving my sister-in-law and two sons," she said.
