Marines beat off Rangers and Special Forces to win sniper competition
One shot, one kill

Recently, over 30 sniper teams, and their coaches, from across the globe, assembled in at Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning) to compete in the 2026 International Sniper Competition. Each team was said to have fired 700 rounds and survived grueling challenges.
On April 10, Staff. Sgt. Tyler Johnson and Sgt. Spencer Harrell, representing the United States Marine Corps, were awarded the championship trophy after winning the competition.

The event took place at the prestigious Maneuver Center of Excellence. The goal of the competition was to identify the best sniper team from within the U.S. Military, and NATO allies. Additionally, foster a spirit of cooperation, while sharing best practices and methods.
According to the U.S. Army, “The top team will be identified only after all teams have been assessed through a gauntlet of rigorous physical, mental and technical events testing a range of sniper skills including, but not limited to, long range marksmanship, observation, reconnaissance and reporting abilities, and abilities to move with stealth and concealment.”
The competition took place from April 6 to April 11, 2026, concluding with the official awards ceremony being conducted at McGinnis-Wickam Hall.
The 75th Ranger Regiment, and 3rd Special Forces Group are said to have taken 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
