Baluchistan province has long been plagued by insurgency led by groups.

Pakistani security forces successfully thwarted an insurgent attack on one of the main naval facilities in the volatile southwestern Baluchistan province on Monday night, government and police officials confirmed.

According to authorities, four insurgents were killed during the foiled attack, which targeted the Siddiqui air station. The outlawed separatist group Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA) quickly claimed responsibility for the failed assault. Notably, the BLA is designated as a terrorist organization by Pakistan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The incident occurred in Turbat district, Baluchistan, where insurgents attempted to breach the naval facility but were swiftly detected and neutralized by security forces. While no damage was inflicted on the air station, the confrontation resulted in the elimination of the attackers.

As of the time of reporting, there has been no official statement released by the military regarding the incident. however, three officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the details but were not authorized to speak on the record.

This attack follows closely on the heels of a recent clash where security forces killed eight insurgents attempting to infiltrate a government building near the Chinese-funded Gwadar port in Baluchistan.

Baluchistan province has long been plagued by a low-level insurgency led by groups like the BLA, demanding independence from the central government in Islamabad. Despite government claims of quelling the insurgency, violence in the region persists.

Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan, also grapples with the presence of Islamic militants, further adding to the security challenges faced by authorities in the region.
