According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), two of these service members are currently being evaluated for their injuries. The third service members at Mission Support Site Conoco has already been cleared to return to work after being treated for minor wounds.
CENTCOM also reported that following the attack, four militant fighters linked to Iran were killed and seven rocket launchers were destroyed by a counter attack by US forces. The strike involved an Apache attack helicopters, AC-130 gunships and 155mm Howitzer artillery rounds.

So far no local or international militant groups have taken responsibility for the attack.
CENTCOM Commander, Army Gen. Michael “Erik” Kurilla said, “We will respond appropriately and proportionally to attacks on our service members. No group will strike at our troops with impunity. We will take all necessary measures to defend our people.”
The two bases — one at Conoco, the other at Mission Support Site Green Village — took indirect fire in the form of rockets on Wednesday. So far, it remains unclear whether or not the bases in northeastern Syria took any damage to hard structures or military equipment.
From the start of the attack which was initiated at approximately 7:20 PM Syrian time to the time that the smoke cleared from the counter attack, less than two hours passed.
While it does not appear to be related to the attack on the US base, earlier that same day the US had launched its own attack on Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The airstrike targeted infrastructure that included nine bunkers. The bunkers were believed to have been utilized by the Guard Corps as storage, logistics supply facilities, and ammunition depots.
It appears that there were no casualties sustained in the attack, civilian, combatant, or otherwise.
According to a statement by Col. Joe Buccino the CENTCOM’s communication director, the attack was conduced under the directive of President Joe Biden.
