Three members of the Samarel family, including a 9-year-old child, were found dead in their $800,000 home in Greer, South Carolina, sparking a homicide investigation.

A shocking discovery was made in Greer, South Carolina, last Friday, when law enforcement officials found three dead bodies in an expensive home on Marilyn Perry Lane. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office confirmed that sheriff's deputies responded to the scene at 11:30 a.m. after receiving an "unknown law call" from a neighbor.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered an initial language barrier, but once addressed, they entered the residence and discovered the three deceased individuals inside. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office stated that there is no apparent threat to the public at this initial stage.

The victims were identified by the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office as 54-year-old Richard Samarel, 45-year-old Lina Maria Samarel, and 9-year-old Samantha Samarel. Richard Samarel, originally from New Jersey, was a former manager at Bloomberg LP and studied business administration at Rider University. Lina Samarel, a therapist, previously lived in Columbia and worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Samarel family resided in a roughly $800,000 six-bedroom home. Richard and Lina Samarel had three children together, with other residents of the home being in school at the time of the incident. The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office has requested compassion in media coverage and social media comments, citing the presence of other family members.

The investigation is ongoing, with the sheriff's office and coroner's office working together to determine the circumstances surrounding the triple homicide. Additional information will be released at the appropriate time, with the sheriff's office opting to provide more detail in a subsequent release rather than piecemeal answers to individual media outlets.
