US Imposes Sanctions on Chinese and Russian Entities Over Ukraine Drones

Staff Writer

The US has imposed sanctions on Chinese and Russian entities for manufacturing and supplying drones used by Russia in its war against Ukraine.

The United States has imposed sanctions on two Chinese companies, Xiamen Limbach Aircraft Engine Company and Redlepus Vector Industry Shenzhen, and a Russian affiliate for manufacturing and shipping drones used by Russia in Ukraine. The Treasury Department designated these entities for producing and supplying Russia's Garpiya series drones, which have destroyed critical infrastructure and caused mass casualties. Artem Yamshchikov and Limited Liability Company Trading House Vector, a Russian affiliate, were also sanctioned for enabling Russia's acquisition and use of advanced weapons.

The sanctions, imposed on October 17, mark the first US measures against Chinese entities producing complete weapons systems in partnership with Russian firms. Previously, sanctions targeted Chinese entities providing components for Russia's military-industrial base. The Treasury Department vows to disrupt networks supporting Russia's military campaign.

The Garpiya drones, designed and developed by China-based experts and produced with Russian defense firms, have significantly contributed to Ukraine's devastation. The sanctions freeze assets held by these entities in US jurisdiction and bar US persons from conducting business with them.
