Video: Afterburner takeoff F-16C Fighting Falcon

Daniel Sharp

The 177th Fighter Wing, of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG) posted this awesome takeoff video that will seriously give most people occupation envy.

The NJANG states, “A U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon, piloted by Maj. Ryan Miller, 177th Fighter Wing Aerospace Control Alert commander, takes off with afterburner from the runway at the Atlantic City Air National Guard Base, N.J. Oct. 7, 2021.”

The F-16C Fighting Falcon can soar at twice the speed of sound. That’s over 1500mph, and it is also capable of pulling 9-g maneuvers.

Exercises like these are an important part of maintaining a razor sharp edge of proficiency. Members of the NJANG must be ready for whatever challenges they might face. Future missions can very from assisting in humanitarian efforts after a natural disaster, to protecting citizens from any foreign threat.

The 177th Fighter Wing has been located at the Atlantic City International Airport, Egg Harbor Township, NJ since 1958. People in the comments remarked about how they love seeing the aerial displays, and hearing the roar of the engines during takeoff. The video was taken by U.S. Air National Guard video by Senior Master Sgt. Andrew J. Moseley.
