A US Air Force pilot, known by the callsign “Mullet,” has recently captured online attention due to an unusual addition to his F-15E Strike Eagle cockpit. Photos circulating on social media reveal a pack of Zyn nicotine pouches situated on the aircraft’s dashboard.
Mullet, a member of the 494th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, gained prominence not only for his cockpit décor but also for the striking nose art adorning his F-15E. The aircraft features intricate artwork depicting a figure sporting sunglasses, a mullet, and a mustache, alongside a bald eagle with a mullet gazing at a setting sun. Additionally, one tail wing proudly bears the inscription “business in the front, party in the back,” further emphasizing the pilot’s persona.

The 494th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, along with the 335th Fighter Squadron, recently made headlines for their involvement in intercepting over 80 Iranian drones aimed at Israel during operations in the Middle East. Despite the attention drawn to Mullet’s unique callsign and cockpit adornments.
Photographs capturing Mullet’s distinctive cockpit arrangement were taken by the crew of an aerial tanker during a refueling operation, providing a glimpse into the pilot’s persona and airborne habits. While Mullet’s aerial prowess is evident from the nine AIM-9X missile silhouettes adorning his aircraft, it’s worth noting that the pilot, unfortunately, does not sport a literal mullet haircut, as regulations dictate otherwise.
As the 494th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron concludes its deployment in the CENTCOM area of operations and returns to RAF Lakenheath in the United Kingdom, the squadron’s future deployments remain uncertain. However, given the squadron’s penchant for unique embellishments, it wouldn’t be surprising if a tin of Zyn accompanies them on their next mission.
