Israel Refuses Ground Role in Iran Operation
Israel has ruled out deploying ground troops in Iran, limiting its support to air and intelligence roles while Donald Trump escalates pressure on Tehran.

Israel has drawn a definitive line over its involvement in any potential U.S. ground offensive against Iran, making clear it will not deploy troops while continuing to assist through aerial and intelligence support.
Reports from Israeli media on Monday indicated that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would not take part in any American-led ground campaign in Iran, leaving such operations solely in the hands of U.S. forces. Channel 12 cited official sources as saying, “If the United States carries out a ground operation in Iran, Israeli forces will not be involved on the ground.”

According to the report, any land-based military action would be conducted exclusively by American troops. Israel’s contribution would remain limited to airstrikes, intelligence cooperation, and possibly select special-operations assistance, while firmly rejecting the deployment of its soldiers inside Iranian territory.
This position comes as tensions rise, with Donald Trump issuing a strong warning to Tehran earlier in the day. He stated that if a deal is not reached promptly and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened, the United States would “Destroy all power generation stations, oil wells, Kharg Island, and potentially desalination facilities.”
Israeli officials have repeatedly affirmed their backing for military efforts targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and defense capabilities. At the same time, they have consistently maintained that sending ground troops into Iran is not an option under consideration.

No formal response has yet been released by the Prime Minister’s Office or the IDF regarding the Channel 12 report, though the outlet described the policy as firm and aligned at the highest levels of Israeli leadership.
