Pakistan Test-fires Short-Range Rocket System Amid Tensions with India

Staff Writer

Pakistan has recently also been in armed conflict with ISIS and the Taliban.

Pakistan’s military announced a successful test-firing of the Fatah-II Guided Rocket System on Wednesday, aimed at enhancing its defensive capabilities against potential threats from neighboring India. With a range of 240 miles, the indigenously developed rocket system is equipped with advanced navigation technology and maneuverable features, allowing for precise engagement of targets and the ability to bypass missile defense systems, as stated in a military statement.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistani military extended congratulations to the scientists, engineers, and troops involved in the successful launch of the rocket system. This test-fire is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to demonstrate its readiness to counter any offensive actions from India, its longstanding archenemy.

Tensions between Pakistan and India, both nuclear-armed nations in South Asia, have persisted since their independence from British colonial rule in 1947. The two countries have engaged in three wars over the decades, underscoring the volatile nature of their relationship and the importance of military preparedness for both sides.
