Olympics Update: America’s standing after the first week

After a week of the Olympics in Tokyo, it’s worth reflecting on where Team USA currently stands in comparison to other Olympic teams. The top three medal earners at the moment are China, Japan, and the US, respectively. However, the US leads with 41 total medals.

The following shows each of the three’s current medals in order:

  • China: 18 Gold, 9 Silver, 11 Bronze. Total: 38
  • Japan: 17 Gold, 4 Silver, 7 Bronze. Total: 28
  • U.S.: 14 Gold, 16 Silver, 11 Bronze. Total: 41
