NBC reported, “After narrowly missing out on an Olympic spot in 2016 and 2012, American Amber English outshot the best in the world to take home her first gold medal in women’s skeet.”

The Colorado Springs native shot a record 56 of 60 targets to beat out Italy’s Diana Bacosi by one target. Bacosi was the reigning 2016 Women’s Skeet Gold medalist.

The competition came down to the wire. However, English missed only two of her last 30 targets. Thus cementing her victory, and a new Olympic shooting record.

U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) boasts an impressive 24 Olympic Medals in its illustrious shooting history.

The USAMU posted about the win on social media saying, “A HUGE congratulations to 1st Lt. Amber English on winning the Gold Medal in Women’s Skeet at the Tokyo Olympics!”
