Earlier today, a large explosion was heard in Washington, D.C. However, those same authorities are unable to determine the exact source of the noise.

The investigation is ongoing, but some are attributing it to the ongoing fire near the corner of Seventh St. SW & D St. SW. Plenty of footage of the fire has made rounds on Twitter showing it as it shoots plumes of smoke into the air.

The building itself is apparently the future headquarters of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
