Russian spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responds to President Trump's anger over Vladimir Putin's criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

MOSCOW - A Russian spokesperson responded on Monday to President Donald Trump's recent comments, in which he expressed frustration and anger towards Russian President Vladimir Putin's criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's leadership.

In an interview with NBC News on Sunday, Trump stated that he was "very angry" and "pissed off" by Putin's remarks, which he believed were "not going in the right location". Trump also warned that if Russia and the US are unable to make a deal on stopping the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if he thinks it was Russia's fault, he would impose secondary tariffs on oil coming out of Russia.

Trump addressed the issue again on Air Force One, saying that he doesn't think Putin will go back on his word, citing their long-standing relationship. However, Trump expressed disappointment with Putin's comments on Zelensky's credibility, stating that he's supposed to be making a deal with him regardless of his personal opinions.

In response, Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesperson, told Reuters that Russia is still "working on" a peace deal with Ukraine, but acknowledged that the process is "time-consuming" due to its complexity. Peskov emphasized that Russia is continuing to work with the American side to build bilateral relations and implement ideas related to the Ukrainian settlement.

The exchange of words comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
