Pakistan Train Hijacking 27 Hostages Killed

Staff Writer

Pakistan's military rescued nearly 350 hostages from Baloch Liberation Army terrorists who hijacked a train, but 27 hostages and one soldier were killed in the standoff.

A daring rescue operation by Pakistan's military has saved nearly 350 hostages from the clutches of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) terrorists, who hijacked a train in Balochistan province on Tuesday. The standoff, which lasted for hours, resulted in the deaths of 27 hostages and one Pakistani soldier, while at least 35 BLA terrorists were killed in the rescue operation.

The BLA, designated as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist organization by the US State Department in 2019, claimed responsibility for the hijacking. The terrorists deployed intense gunfire against the Jaffer Express train, which was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, as it passed through a tunnel. The train had roughly 450 passengers on board.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, calling it a "heinous terrorist attack" and pledged to continue fighting against terrorism until it is eradicated from the country. The prime minister also noted that the attack during the peaceful month of Ramadan shows that the terrorists have no connection with the religion of Islam, Pakistan, or Balochistan.

A video shared on social media showed the terrorists blowing up a train track before taking hundreds of passengers hostage. The hostages were later seen in large groups outside the Pakistani train. The BLA had threatened to execute the hostages if the military attempted a rescue operation, claiming they had taken over 100 hostages, including security personnel.

The rescue operation was launched by Pakistan's military, which confronted the terrorists and managed to free the hostages. However, the BLA terrorists used women and children as shields during the standoff, making the rescue operation even more challenging.
