Security forces in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killed three terrorists during an infiltration attempt at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Dir district, the military's media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced on Monday.
The ISPR stated that the movement of the three terrorists was detected by security forces on the night between Sunday and Monday, and they were effectively engaged and killed after an intense exchange of fire.
Pakistan has consistently urged the interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management and prevent the use of Afghan soil by terrorists to carry out attacks against Pakistan. The ISPR emphasized that security forces are committed to securing the borders and eliminating terrorism.
This incident follows a series of operations along the Pak-Afghan border in May, where 29 terrorists were killed, and a recent attempt by 10 terrorists to enter Bannu Cantonment was thwarted. The Pakistan Army has attributed these attacks to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, which operates from Afghanistan.
Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have increased due to the banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group and frequent border skirmishes. Pakistan has urged the Afghan government to investigate and take action against the perpetrators of the Bannu attack and prevent future attacks.
