A missing migrant child was found by U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector, in Texas.

The agents identified the child as one they had recently encountered with a group of migrants. Furthermore, the child was “found in possession of a document stating a false name and date of birth.”

Additional investigation unveiled that the juvenile, and his mother, illegally entered the United States. However, the mother soon abandoned the child and crossed back into Mexico.

Adding, “I am proud of the diligence and dedication of our agents as they once again transitioned from an enforcement role to a humanitarian mission.”

Subsequently, the Del Rio Sector personnel worked diligently with the Guatemalan Consulate to return the minor to his family.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, “For the month of October, Del Rio Sector agents encountered 804 unaccompanied children, a 98 percent increase from October 2020.”
