Marjorie Taylor Greene, member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Georgia’s 14th district, said that joining the military is “like throwing your life away”.

During a podcast appearance on The Great America Show, host Lou Dobbs posed the question of why Americans should join the military. He raised concerns over whether enlisted service members would simply be employed as “boots on the ground” to do damage control in other nations.

Referring to the 100,000 American service members who were deployed to the European theater following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he suggested that the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan might serve to deter citizens from choosing to serve.

Inciting Greene’s remarks, Dobbs made reference to the “quality of people” in Biden’s Department of Defense. He referenced that under the current administration, the military was struggling to hit recruitment numbers. The military attributes these struggles to the COVID climate but Dobbs suggested that it’s because potential recruits have “seen the way they’re treated.”

The Georgia congresswoman said, “I know a lot of young people don’t want to have anything to do with that. It’s like throwing your life away.” She went on, “Not to mention how they’ve been forced to take the vaccine and the ones that didn’t want to take it have been discharged. Who wants to be treated that way?”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also made accusations about the military’s rules of engagement forbidding service members from defending themselves. She inculpated that war fighters must wait to be “shot at, killed, and maimed” before being lawfully allowed to engage their enemy.

Greene’s contention with the military wasn’t limited to the rules of engagement. “It’s a disaster from the top-down and the bottom up,” she argued. “We can add in the training, the woke training, where they have to undergo this ridiculous ideology of the sick and satanic left.”

This is not Rep. Green’s first time in the spotlight after making questionable comments.

Previously, Greene has suggested that “Muslims do not belong in government”, asserted that black Americans “are held slaves to the Democratic Party”, and has referred to George Soros as a “Jewish Democratic megadonor” and a Nazi.

Greene has also claimed that if she were black, she would be “proud” to see Confederate monuments due to their representation of the post-civil rights era progress made since the Civil War.
