Four Ft. Polk soldiers arrested for drive-by shooting
Four U.S. Army soldiers stationed at Ft. Polk were arrested for a suspected gang-related drive-by shooting in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana on Monday. No injuries stemmed from the shooting, aside from one individual being cut by broken glass as they escaped the gunfire through a window.

India captures $2.7bn of Afghan heroin
According to Indian officials in touch with Reuters, India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized nearly $2.7 billion worth of Afghan heroin last Tuesday. The seizure totals at around three tons of heroin, making it one of the largest drug seizures in Indian history.

Australia abruptly cancels French submarine contract
France expressed a great deal of disappointment with Australia after the country backed out of a submarine contract they made with French shipbuilder Naval Group. The contract entailed building nearly 90 billion Australian dollars worth of submarines according to Reuters, which Australia ditched in favor of a U.S./U.K. deal.

Vandal desecrates memorial for casualties of Kabul airport bombing
Yesterday, local authorities said that 13 American flags draped over the 91 freeway in Riverside, California, meant as a memorial for the U.S. service members who died in the Aug. 26 suicide bombing in Kabul, were torn to pieces by an unknown vandal. A U.S. Marine Corps flag was also damaged by the person.

Firefly Aerospace’s Alpha rocket explodes during first launch
Late on Thursday evening, aerospace company Firefly‘s first Alpha rocket to be launched into space exploded after only 2 1/2 minutes in flight.
The Alpha rocket launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base’s SLC-2 complex, heading west over the Pacific ocean. The rocket flew through the air for less than 3 minutes before it began rotating end over end, eventually exploding into a gazillion pieces.
