Reports claim Ukrainian peace negotiator, Denys Kireev, 45, was shot by the Ukrainian Intelligence Agency amidst accusations he was spying for Russia. Ukrainian media claims Kireev’s phone conversations were used to ascertain his guilt.

However, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense tweeted that Kireev and two others, were killed while conducting operations for their country. Merely hours after his death, Kireev was called a “hero” by his government.

While it is still unverified, it appears that Kireev was shot dead either during the apprehension or after he was taken into custody. Some reports claim he was shot while resisting arrest.

Ukrainian Member of Parliament, Oleksiy Honcharenko posted on his Telegram channel, “During the arrest, the Security Service of Ukraine shot dead a member of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation Denys Kireev… he was suspected of high treason.”

Peace Negotiator or Spy?

Sources say that Kireev was not officially on any roster of delegates attending peace talks last week. Still, Kireev was photographed at the peace talks, sitting at a table with other delegates.

Details about the death of the peace negotiator remain murky, but it is alleged that Kireev was arrested by the Ukrainian Secret Service after a member of the Ukrainian Military Police claimed that he was leaking information to Russia.

Both Ukraine and Russia have allegedly claimed responsibility for some of Kireev’s actions, possibly implying that he was either working for both sides of the conflict, or even a double agent.

Shortly after, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense posted on their Facebook page:

“During the performance of special tasks, three scouts were killed – employees of the Chief Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. They died, defending Ukraine, and their act brought us closer to victory! On behalf of the Chief Management of Intelligence, we express our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased. “Heroes don’t die! They live until we remember them! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!”

Independant political analyst, Mario Dubovikova reported, “Kireev was actually killed right in the centre of Kiev. He was literally executed, shot in the head at the entrance of Pechersk Court.”

Gruesome photographs of a deceased male, that appear to be Denis Kireev, have emerged online. Although, their authenticity cannot be confirmed at this time.
