Ukrainian officials have claimed that Russian troops and Wagner mercenaries are now fighting each other on Ukrainian soil.

Ukrainian officials have claimed that Russian troops and Wagner mercenaries are now fighting each other on Ukrainian soil.

The conflict, which has been ongoing since 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea, has recently escalated, with both sides accusing the other of aggression. However, this latest claim by Ukraine suggests that the situation on the ground is more complex than previously thought.

According to Ukrainian officials, Russian troops and Wagner mercenaries, a private military company believed to have close ties to the Kremlin, have clashed in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine. The fighting reportedly began when a unit of Wagner mercenaries attempted to take control of a Ukrainian-held position.

The Ukrainian military responded with force, and a fierce battle ensued. Ukrainian officials claim that at least ten Wagner mercenaries were killed in the fighting, while several Russian troops were also injured.

Russian officials have yet to respond to the claims, but the situation is sure to escalate tensions between the two countries. The conflict has already resulted in the deaths of thousands of people, and a new front between Russian troops and Wagner mercenaries could make the situation even more volatile.

The involvement of Wagner mercenaries in the conflict has been a point of contention between Ukraine and Russia for years. The group, which is believed to have close ties to the Kremlin, has been accused of operating in Ukraine in support of pro-Russian separatists.

Russia has denied any involvement with Wagner, but the group’s presence in Ukraine has been well documented. In recent years, Ukraine has sought to crackdown on the group’s activities, and this latest clash suggests that tensions between the two sides are still very high.

The conflict between Ukraine and Russia shows no signs of abating, and this latest development only serves to underscore the complexity of the situation on the ground. It remains to be seen how Russia will respond to these latest claims, but one thing is clear: the situation in eastern Ukraine is far from over.
